HAUPPAUGUE, N.Y.-- Teachers Federal Credit Union (TFCU) has been recognized as a Platinum-Level Fit-Friendly Worksite by the American Heart Association. This recognition is given to companies that help employees eat better and move more.
“Physical activity and employee wellness are important priorities at TFCU. We are honored and excited to be recognized by the American Heart Association as a Platinum-Level Fit-Friendly Worksite,” said Robert G. Allen, president and CEO of TFCU.
As a Platinum level award recipient, TFCU has fulfilled key criteria and demonstrated a strong commitment to providing a healthy workplace for its employees. Platinum-level employers:
- Offer employees physical activity options in the workplace.
- Increase healthy eating options at the worksite.
- Promote a wellness culture in the workplace.
- Implement at least nine criteria outlined by the American Heart Association in the areas of physical activity, nutrition and culture.
- Demonstrate measurable outcomes related to workplace wellness.
TFCU has a Wellness Committee that is dedicated to improving the health of all TFCU employees. Throughout the year the TFCU Wellness Committee organizes various activities like health fairs, exercise classes, the Biggest Loser challenges, healthy lunch and learns and more to encourage TFCU employees to live a healthier lifestyle while at work.
