ROCHESTER, N.Y.– The Summit Federal Credit Union Taste of Syracuse, Central New York’s biggest food and music festival, welcomed an estimated 200,000 people over two days.
Produced by Galaxy Events, the festival featured hundreds of eateries and food trucks and non-stop music with over 33 bands, including Eve 6 and The Spin Doctors. In addition to welcoming large crowds steadily throughout the festival, over $23,000 was collected for local charities, the credit union said.
Representatives from The Summit Federal Credit Union and Tops Friendly Markets gathered at Clinton Square in Downtown Syracuse to present a check for $11,936.25 each to the two festival beneficiaries: PEACE Inc. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Onondaga County and Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
The money collected was a joint effort between The Summit Federal Credit Union and Tops Friendly Markets, Taste of Syracuse sponsors. All of the funds collected from both organizations were donated to the two beneficiaries.
Since 2017, The Summit and Tops Friendly Markets have helped to raise over $101,000 for Central New York charities.
“We are thrilled that we were able to recognize and raise money for these two local charities that make a big difference in Central New York,” said Twanda Christensen, VP-marketing and community engagement for The Summit Federal Credit Union.
