SCARBOROUGH, Maine–Town & Country Federal Credit Union collected nearly 50 pints of blood through two blood drives the credit union hosted at its Operations Center in Scarborough. The blood drives were organized by the credit union in support of two year-old Jackson Corbeau, the son of two of its long-time members, Matt and Beth Corbeau.
Town & Country FCU employee Laurie Nielsen organized the blood drives after hearing the story about Jackson’s diagnosis with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), and speaking with the Corbeaus about what could be done to help.
The Corbeaus were grateful for the support. “Jackson has received and will continue to receive several blood and platelet transfusions throughout his treatment & although the blood donated will not go directly to Jackson, donated blood is a very important part of Jackson’s journey back to health.”
Jon Paradise, vice president of public relations and Communications for the credit union, said this type of support for members “captures the spirit of Town & Country. We appreciate the special relationship we have with our members, and the opportunity to support them in financial matters and in life is an important part of our culture and philosophy.”
Added Dave Libby, president and CEO of Town & Country FCU, added, “We work hard to empower our employees to take initiative when it comes to community-service and relationships. This is a great example of why our employees are so special.”
