FORT WASHINGTON, Penn.– TruMark Financial Credit Union has awarded its first Financial Difference Makers Scholarships, which are designed to honor high school seniors who demonstrate exceptional community service.
“This scholarship underscores TruMark Financial's commitment to financial education and equipping youth with the financial tools and knowledge necessary to become financially smart adults,” the credit union said.
The Winners
First Place: Sarah Ladley - $7,500. “Sarah, from Central Bucks High School, saw a need among foster care teens who use garbage bags for their belongings. She organized peers to create ‘dignity bags’ filled with necessities, offering dignity and support. Sarah will attend McDaniel College and received an additional $350 donation for Fostering Hope Bucks County.”
Second Place: Brendan DiEnna--$4,000. “Brendan, from Holy Ghost Prep School, led a camp for underprivileged children in the Dominican Republic, raising funds for sports equipment and games. Brendan will attend Boston College and received a $350 donation for the Holy Ghost Esperanza Camp.”
Third Place: Megan Keeney - $3,000. “Megan, from Interboro High School, collected new and gently used school supplies for students in need, distributed through the Back-to-School Free Store. Megan will attend West Chester University and received a $350 donation for her high school's Free Store.”
Runners-Up: Lisa Share, Arianna Vahsen, and Haley Velasquez
These students also showcased outstanding community service and were honored as runners-up, each receiving $350 and a matching donation to their associated non-profits.
"I am deeply humbled by the commitment and maturity these young individuals have shown, and we are deeply proud of them,” TruMark Financial CEO Kelly Botti said in a statement. “Their projects reflect a deep understanding of community needs, and I have no doubt they will continue to make a difference as they begin their college journeys."
The scholarship awards were presented at a special breakfast event at TruMark Financial’s headquarters, honoring the top six students, their parents, and sponsoring teachers.
