UCFCU Members OK Merger into Genisys

AUBURN HILLS, Mich.–Members of the $20-million Unified Communities Federal Credit Union have approved a merger into Genisys Credit Union.

Combined, the credit union will have assets totaling over $4 billion and will serve more than 250,000 members. The merger is expected to become official on June 1, 2022, and work to combine systems and operations will be completed by July 2022.

“I am very pleased that the membership has validated our board’s decision to join with Genisys Credit Union,'' said Mary Carnarvon-LaHousse, the current president and CEO of Unified Communities Federal Credit Union, who will remain with the credit union through the transition and then take retirement. “This is an extension of the success that Unified Communities has had throughout its history. Genisys will provide our members with continued financial strength and a strong commitment to meeting their ever-changing needs.”

Added Jackie Buchanan, president, and CEO of Genisys Credit Union, “We are so pleased to have the approval of the Unified Communities members and we look forward to providing outstanding service and new financial products to them. We are committed to making the transition as quick and smooth as possible for our members."

According to the CU, Unified Communities members will benefit from expanded access to branches, the latest in mobile and online banking technology, including remote deposit, card controls, a full-service contact center, debit rewards with Genius High-Yield Checking, valuable financial guidance, and service through Genisys Investment Services, just to name a few.  

The Unified Communities branch will remain open and its employees will join the Genisys Credit Union team. 

Unified Communities was founded in 1949.
