UMCU Donates Toys, Gifts to Children in Hospitals

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – University of Michigan Credit Union (UMCU) donated $6,000 in toys and gifts to help make the holiday season brighter for children and families at the Michigan Medicine C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Ascension Genesys Hospital’s Pediatric Department.

The credit union said the donation was made possible by thekindness and generosity of members and team members who contributed to UMCU’s eleventh annual “Toys for Mott” and“Toys for Genesys” toy drive.

From Nov. 15 through Dec. 17, 2021, UMCU invited members and team members to drop off new, unwrapped toys atseveral branches in southeast Michigan. In addition to toys,

UMCU also collected monetary donations at the branches andthrough internal charitable initiatives such as “Jeans Day” in which team members donate a portion of their monthlypaycheck to wear jeans during the workweek. 

The monetary contributions were used to purchase additionaltoys.

“Every year, we are humbled by the number of toys and funds donated by our members and team members. The toy drive is one way we come together as a community to help make theholidays special for the families and children at C.S. MottChildren’s Hospital and Genesys Hospital’s PediatricDepartment. We are incredibly grateful to support thiswonderful cause and thankful to everyone who helped make this donation possible,” said Julie Wigley, UMCU VP-brand andcommunity development.
