HONOLULU– The University of Hawai`i Federal Credit Union (UHFCU) said it will award $2,000 scholarships to five members through its inaugural 2016-2017 Scholarship Program, according to President and CEO Jeanine M. Morse. As the University’s credit union, the scholarship endowment will create a lasting legacy – potentially benefiting generations of students as well as the UH System. The new Scholarship Program is founded under the leadership of the UHFCU Board of Directors.
UHFCU’s Scholarship Program requires that applicants must be UHFCU members or family members thereof. Scholarships are available for incoming freshmen as well as continuing college students of the University of Hawai`i System. Applicants will be scored based on financial need, academic achievement, leadership, and community service. A scholarship application and required paperwork, including a short essay and school transcripts, must be received at UHFCU by April 18, 2016.
“UHFCU is deeply committed to the University of Hawai`i System and investing in the leaders of tomorrow. Our Scholarship Program helps us achieve this by recognizing and rewarding young people for their exemplary academic performance and community service,” said Morse. “We hope our scholarships will grant these deserving students the resources they need to achieve their goals and succeed in their future endeavors.”
