UofC's Free Throws Pay Off as Elevations CU Donates $30K

BOULDER, Colo.– As a result of the 2022-2023 Hoops for Health initiative, Elevations Credit Union has donated $30,000 to Boulder-based Mental Health Partners (MHP) to increase local mental health resources.

Through the program, Elevations pledged $20 to MHP for every successful free throw made by a University of Colorado men's or women's basketball player during the regular season. While the men’s and women’s teams scored enough $20 free throws to total $15,840, Elevations made the challenge a slam dunk by contributing a full $30,000 to help fund essential mental health services.

“Elevations is proud to support mental health initiatives in our communities. This is equally important to our partners at CU,” said Dennis Paul, VP-government affairs and strategic partnerships at Elevations Credit Union. “We can’t think of a more important organization than MHP and the critical work they are doing around mental health.”

The funds will support outreach training, particularly suicide prevention and community wellness classes in the Louisville, Lafayette and Superior communities which were heavily impacted by the Marshall Fire. Elevations has continued to support both credit union members and the communities impacted by this devastating 2021 wildfire.

This partnership between the University of Colorado Athletics, Elevations Credit Union and Mental Health Partners is an important example of the need for partnership and support as the community continues to recover from the devastating Marshall Fire, and the impact that catastrophic event had on individuals in the community, the credit union said.
