Ventura County CU Foundation Awards $38K in Grants

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. –The Foundation of VCCU, Ventura County Credit Union’s (VCCU) philanthropic nonprofit organization, has awarded $38,500 in grants to eight nonprofits.

This grant cycle, which is the first round of awards distributed in 2024, will support these organizations’ efforts to improve the lives of Ventura and Santa Barbara county residents, the foundation said.

“The eight organizations serve a wide variety of our neighbors in need including foster children, individuals that need help, as well as families struggling with homelessness, housing and food insecurity,” according to the Foundation for VCCU.

Grant recipients include Cabrillo Econ Devel Corp., HomeMore Project, James Storehouse, Los Robles Volunteer Program, Mesa Farm, People’s Self-Help Housing, Reel Guppy Outdoors and Search Dog Foundation.

The grant awardee celebration was held in person at VCCU’s corporate headquarters. All recipients were in attendance along with the Foundation board and VCCU employees.

“These nonprofits work every day to bridge the gap between struggling individuals and the resources and experiences they so desperately need,” said Alma Medina, the foundation’s board president. “We are honored to award grants that will play a supporting role in those positive efforts.”

Since its founding in 2015, the foundation has provided more than $438,500 in grants to support nonprofits serving the Ventura and Santa Barbara County communities. The foundation’s giving focuses on the underserved, the beautification and preservation of the environment, and the health and well-being of the region.
