THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.– Ventura County Credit Union (VCCU) has been recognized as the 2018 Business of the Year by the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce. Chosen for its exceptional commitment to its members and the community, VCCU will be honored at the chamber’s 2018 Recognition Gala, which celebrates outstanding local organizations and leaders.
“VCCU strives daily to provide educational resources and support to the community, and it is a privilege to have our efforts recognized with this award,” said Joe Schroeder, president and CEO of VCCU. “On behalf of myself and VCCU, I’d like to thank the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce for this tremendous honor.”
VCCU actively supports a wide variety of local groups and nonprofits — including Senior Concerns, Community Conscience, the CLU Corporate Leaders Breakfast Series, Assisted Home Health and Hospice Foundation, Madroña Elementary PTA, and many other organizations — through its CommUNITY Giving program and also encourages employee volunteerism by compensating staff for up to 40 hours of community service per year.
In 2016, VCCU launched The Foundation of Ventura County Credit Union, which provides financial assistance and education to local community partners and emphasizes the underserved, beautification or preservation of the environment, and health and well-being of the region. In 2017, VCCU participated in more than 500 local events, including but not limited to the annual FOOD Share CAN-tree event, Thousand Oaks Street Fair, Goebel Wellness Fest and the chamber’s August Networking at Night mixer.
The Recognition Gala, themed “An Evening in Wonderland,” invites the community and fellow chamber members to enjoy cocktails followed by a three-course meal and presentation of awards.
