PASADENA, Calif.– Wescom Credit Union was recognized for its continued dedication and support to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and its annual biking fundraiser as an Impact Award Honoree at the Together for a Cure MS Luncheon in Newport Beach, Calif.
Wescom Credit Union reported that since 2008 it has raised more than $1.7 million – and counting – to support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society via the Bike MS: Bay to Bay annual event.
Team Wescom, with more than 90 riders (employees, members, family and friends), participates in a 100-mile ride down the coast of Southern California from Orange to San Diego County every year to increase awareness and raise money.
Bike MS is the largest fundraising cycling series in the world, and Team Wescom is currently ranked as one of the top teams on the Bike MS: Bay to Bay website.
“With estimates of nearly one million people suffering from MS in the United States, Wescom is determined to raise $150,000 this year to support the cause,” the credit union said.
In addition to the rider count listed above, throughout the years many non-riders have donated their time to support the Wescom Bike MS Team through hotel registration, support vehicles, logistics, etc.
“This year will be my 14th year riding with Wescom for the Bike MS: Bay to Bay ride,” said Wescom Bike MS Team rider and VP-Facilities and Administration Services Dan Moore. “Throughout the years, I’ve been inspired by many of my fellow team members to continue riding – including one former Wescom team member who had MS and cycled with me and Team Wescom across the finish line in 2015. Knowing that we are all working on stopping MS forever keeps me going.”
