WESTERLY, R.I.– The Westerly Community Credit Union Scholarship Committee recently awarded four $1,000 scholarships and one $1,500 scholarship to local students of Chariho, Coventry, Westerly and Mystic high schools.
Jillian Octeau of Westerly was awarded the Westerly Community Credit Union - Joseph N. Cugini Memorial Scholarship, which is named for the CU’s former president and CEO and board chairman. Octeau will be attending the University of Rhode Island to pursue a degree in nursing.
Bridget Fox of Charlestown was awarded the Westerly Community Credit Union - Robert M. Bewlay Memorial Scholarship, named in honor of the CU’s former vice president for his 35 years of dedication and service. Fox will be attending the University of South Carolina to study nursing.
Lauren Richard of Coventry and Molly Lebovitz of Mystic, Conn. were each awarded a Westerly Community Credit Union College Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a high school graduate attending a four-year college or university. Richard will be attending Yale University to study economics. Lebovitz will be attending the University of Rhode Island to study elementary education.
Westerly Community Credit Union, a sponsor of The Credit Union College Scholarship Program, submitted three applicants for consideration. Ryan Scanapieco of Bradford, R.I. was selected to receive a credit union scholarship award. Ryan will be attending Villanova to study engineering.
