WESTERLY, R.I.– Westerly Community Credit Union announced its WCCU Teacher Grant Program will once again be awarding $7,000 in grants, in values up to $500, for the upcoming 2018/19 school year.
WCCU Teacher Grants are available to local Teachers, Administrators, or Staff from the Chariho, Narragansett, South Kingstown, Stonington, and Westerly school districts.
Westerly Community awards the grants annually to support creative and experiential educational projects or programs in the area’s school districts. Special consideration will be given to innovative projects that strengthen the relationship between our schools and the community at large, as well as to projects that support student excellence. The credit union said all applications will be judged on the following criteria: Educational Focus, Promotion of Skills/Excellence, Creativity/Innovation, Community Connection, and Goal Clarity/Attainability.
“We appreciate the support given by local teachers, administration, and staff in helping WCCU with our goal of teaching financial literacy to our area’s youth,” said Steve White, WCCU president and CEO. “We felt this was a way to thank them and show them our support for their innovative ideas to help children succeed.’
