WESTERLY, R.I.–The Westerly Community Credit Union showed support for local athletes, sports programs and schools as it donated 100% of the proceeds from the 32nd Annual Holiday Basketball Tournament to Chariho, Stonington, South Kingstown and Westerly High School Sports Boosters. Each school received a check for $2,641.85 for their basketball teams’ hard work, determination and participation in the tournament.
The 2015 tournament raised a total of $10,567.41. The Westerly Community Credit Union is the sole sponsor of the tournament allowing 100% of the gate receipts to be divided between the Sports Boosters of the participating schools. This popular event has now raised $204,468.71 since the 1st tournament took place in 1984.
“WCCU has always been a very community-oriented institution,” stated Steve White, WCCU President & CEO. “We couldn’t be happier being the sole sponsor of this event for the past 32 years and raising money to help our communities young adults.”
