WESTERLY, R.I.– Westerly Community Credit Union (WCCU) held its 2023 Annual Holiday Basketball Tournament, which supports local athletes, sports programs, and schools.
WCCU is the sole sponsor of the tournament and donates 100% of the proceeds back to the participating schools’ sports boosters.
WCCU said it raised a total of $9,038.12. Chariho, Stonington, South Kingstown, and Westerly High School’s Sports Boosters each received a check for $2,259.53 for their basketball teams’ hard work, determination, and participation in the tournament.
Since its launch in 1984, it has raised $276,072.23.
“WCCU is focused on supporting our members and local communities and we want to make a positive impact in our local schools,” stated Steve White, WCCU president & CEO. “We had a very successful tournament this year and were able to raise money for our communities’ young adults.”
