PEWAUKEE, Wis.–More than 30 Wisconsin credit union representatives met recently with Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Town of Vermont) during a luncheon sponsored by the Wisconsins Credit Union League and CUNA Mutual Group. The group heard the congressman's take on what Congress is likely to accomplish before the 2016 elections, and the new dynamic with Wisconsin's Rep. Paul Ryan (R), the new Speaker of the House.
According to the league, issues discussed included:
- Bills to improve data security and reduce financial institutions' cost of data breaches .
- Two bills that would allow credit unions to enhance their ability to provide member business loans.
- Additional legislative proposals that would benefit the industry
- Potential changes to the structure of the CFPB
- Potential changes to the structure of the CFPB
