XCeed Financial Exceeds Its Food Drive Goals

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. ─ Xceed Financial Credit Union injected some friendly competition into its recent food drive and in the process far exceeded its own expectations for the holiday charitable activity, donating a total of more than 10,000 canned goods and other food items to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, the Second Harvest Food Bank, Christian Community Action, Foodlink, and Missions of God, which serve communities where the Credit Union operates major facilities.

“We are so proud of the warmth and generosity demonstrated by our associates,” said Xceed Financial Credit Union’s President and CEO Teresa Freeborn. “We had hoped to be able to brighten the holidays for at least a few families in need, but we ended up doing much, much more!”

Araceli Martinez, Food Drive Coordinator for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, said XFCU’s donation of 3,224 pounds of food to her organization will provide 2,686 meals to hungry children and their families, seniors and individuals in Los Angeles County. Julia Tedesco, Executive Director of Foodlink, said the credit union’s donation of 499 pounds of food to her organization will provide 416 meals to hungry children and seniors in the Rochester area.

As part of the food drive, XFCU sought to boost engagement and contributions by dividing associates into department-based teams, with the top two teams receiving a department lunch courtesy of Xceed Financial. The winning team, which dubbed itself “Team Hakuna Matata,” was comprised of Operations, Payment Solutions, Retail Operations and Facilities, and donated 3,034 items, with the second place “Risky Business” team – consisting of Risk Management as well as Portfolio and Credit Risk Management – delivering 2,284 items.
