Zeal CU And Staff Assist at Capuchin Soup Kitchen

LIVONIA, Mich.–– Zeal Credit Union and its staff have again contributed to the community.

“We like to give our staff an opportunity to volunteer somewhere in the community once a month,” said Bryan Feldpausch, marketing coordinator for Zeal Credit Union. “As we started looking for opportunities to help, we contacted the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit.

In July, a team of employees went to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit to help stock their pantry for three hours. In addition to the food pantry, there is also a clothing section. Volunteers helped stock shelves with food, organize clothing onto racks and assist people with taking food to their cars.

In September, another Zeal team went to Fish and Loaves Community Food Pantry in Taylor to volunteer by stocking the pantry, organizing food in their warehouse and making a food donation.

On October 24, Zeal Credit Union said it is looking forward to sponsoring a meal for “Love a Michigan Vet,” which has four Veterans shelters in the Detroit area. Zeal volunteers will host a taco night with a Halloween theme for an estimated 125 homeless Veterans at one of the area shelters.

“This will also give us an opportunity to talk with the vets and hear their stories,” added Feldpausch. “We’re hoping to make it a fun night with Halloween costumes, prize raffles and music. Showing empathy and compassion is something we strive to do every day with our members. Extending the same to Veterans is the least we can do.”
