EL PASO, Texas–evolve FCU hosted its second Social Purpose event of the year, “Summer Slam 2024,” at the El Paso Chihuahuas baseball stadium, where the credit union provided tickets to a private event to seven of its partner organizations.
Organizations included in the event were the Child Crisis Center, Candlelighters, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Make-A-Wish of El Paso, The El Paso Children Miracle Network, Lee and Beulah Moor Children’s Home and The Center Against Sexual and Family Violence.
evolve FCU said the children’s organizations were greeted with a warm welcome at the baseball stadium, where they were able to sit comfortably at the Santa Fe Pavilion, a private area just for the children’s organizations.
“They were able to enjoy a lunch buffet that provided hot dogs, kettle chips, watermelon, freshly baked cookies, and refreshment drinks like fruit punch and lemonade,” the credit union said. “The kids and families had a great time as many of these kids do not get a chance to go on an outing like this, whether it be because of their financial situation, life threatening illnesses, or being under foster care.”
One of the mothers from the Make-A-Wish families stated that this was their first time attending a game and that her son was very excited to meet Chico, the baseball team’s mascot.
