MADISON, Wis.—To mark the company’s 80th anniversary on Jan. 27, CUNA Mutual Group CEO Bob Trunzo visited all four of the company’s corporate locations—Fort Worth, Texas; Great Bend, Kan.; Waverly, Iowa, and Madison, Wis.—on the same day (see images below).
Internally, the company called the initiative the “You Matter Tour.” “The theme commemorated the 80th anniversary and recognized employees in each CUNA Mutual Group location to remind them that what they do every day matters to our credit unions, their members and all customers we serve,” the company said. “We had special events specific to each location and live-streamed each visit by Bob on our Intranet for all employees to watch.”
Instead of a Santa Tracker, CUNA Mutual created a “Bob Tracker” that followed Trunzo during his travels.
CUNA Mutual Group was founded on Jan. 27, 1935, by the then year-old Credit Union National Association.
Fort Worth employees marked the day with a salsa-making event. Bob Trunzo served as “Salsa Judge” and was given the additional title of “Honorary Texan.”

CUNA Mutual Group marked its 80th year of service to credit unions and their members in Waverly by recognizing employees and making a generous food donation to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. Departments challenged each other to contribute at least 80 non-perishable food items. Employees far-exceeded the challenge by filling eight barrels with more than 1,000 pounds of food.
