OAKLAND, Calif.–Two charities are a little bit richer as the result of a bet by two credit unions on the NBA Finals.
Seven Seventeen Credit Union in Warren, Ohio wagered with Patelco Credit Union in Pleasanton, Calif., on the NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors, with the latter winning the NBA title four games to two.
In the challenge, the CEOs of the two credit unions–Gary Soukenik of Seven Seventeen and Erin Mendez of Patelco–participated in a challenge in which the CEO of the losing team would wear the winning team’s jersey, while each would donate to the other’s Children’s Miracle Network–with the loser donating $5 for every point the winning team scored in the final game and the winner donating $2.50 per point. With a final score of 105-97, $525 was donated by Seven Seventeen to Oakland Hospital, while $250 was donated to Akron Children’s Hospital.
