Great progress has been made by issuers and merchants in the adoption and deployment of EMV technology, and EMV cards have been largely successful in deterring and preventing fraud in card present transactions.

On May 18, 2017, a very important hearing was held in the Dirksen Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill by the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. It was important because it most likely marked the official start of the debate on a 21st century version of the Glass-Steagall Act. 

Various credit unions around the country have experienced counterfeit activity resulting from “PINless” debit transactions, some of which have led to losses in excess of $100,000.
