What Your CU Should Be Doing On April 6

By Christopher Morris

At the core of every credit union’s mission is to improve their members’ financial well-being. It permeates every activity, from products and services to community outreach.

Financial education is a critical focus of many credit union’s outreach efforts in order to improve the financial well-being of their members’ and community. Did you know there is an easy way to help raise awareness of credit unions’ financial education activities as well as support them?

We encourage credit union organizations to hold a “Financial Fitness Day” fundraiser on April 6, 2016 to kick off National Financial Literacy Month and National Credit Union Youth Month. This initiative will raise funds for the National Credit Union Foundation and state credit union foundations in support of their financial education initiatives.

To participate, credit union organizations can hold a Jeans or Casual Day fundraiser for staff on Financial Fitness Day - 4/6/16:

The theme of National Credit Union Youth Month this year is “Credit Union Strong”, which positions credit unions as a source of financial strength. Holding a Financial Fitness Day fundraiser then is a perfect tie-in to demonstrate to both young and older members why credit unions are the number one place for financial fitness.
