WASHINGTON—An attorney for the Federal Housing Finance Agency told the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. WASHINGTON—Bank lending to private equity funds, private credit firms and other nondepository financial institutions climbed to $1.4 trillion at year-end 2025, making it the fastest-growing loan category for banks since the 2008 financial crisis, according to the FDIC, which said the exposure is increasingly concentrated among the largest institutions, Law360 reported.
