WASHINGTON — A bid by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to sidestep state laws requiring national banks to pay interest on mortgage escrow accounts is being blasted as an unlawful attempt to revive broad federal preemption powers curtailed after the financial crisis, state regulators and consumer advocates told Bloomberg Law.

WASHINGTON--With a goal of gathering direct input from small credit unions to better target advocacy efforts, America’s Credit Unions’ Small Credit Unions Advocacy Advisory Panel met for the first time Tuesday. Consisting of 30 leaders from across the country, the group was formed in response to strong interest from small credit unions seeking greater involvement in shaping policy priorities.
